Hinchliffe Mill Junior & Infant School

Snow Closure Arrangements

In the event of poor weather conditions, such a heavy or prolonged  snowfall, the school may need to consider whether the school can be open.

Any decision to close the school would not be taken lightly, but sometimes this is inevitable, because many staff live some distance away and may not be able to travel into school.

In the event of these circumstances please below the school's procedures:

If snow falls heavily overnight:

  • School will update families via the School Jotter2 app- sending a notice to express that the school is open or closed
  • The school will share this information with Kirklees and closures to school would be detailed on the Kirklees School Closure web page:
    www.kirklees.gov.uk/schoolclosures
  • Radio Leeds (FM 92.4 or 95.3 or 103.9 or on MW 774) and Home (FM 107.9) will be giving out
information in their ‘Snowline Information Service’ about which schools are closed.

If snow falls heavily during the school day:

  • School will update families via the School Jotter2 app expressing that we are either:                           -remaining open and monitoring the situation or                                                                                    -due to close because of the weather, asking families to send a parent/carer to collect their child/ren
  • Further to this a text message would be sent to parents/carers in the event of the school closing
